ReForest at INTERFACES Colloquium: Decision Support Modelling for Sustainable Land Management

mei 22 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The ReForest Project is excited to take part in the INTERFACES Colloquium Series #19, which focuses on advancing decision-making for sustainable land management — especially in contexts where data is incomplete or uncertain.

In this session, Prof. Eike Luedeling of the University of Bonn’s Institute of Crop Science and Resource Conservation (INRES) will present a lecture titled “A decision focus for impact-oriented agricultural research.”

His talk will provide a deep dive into how agricultural research can enhance its real-world impact by focusing on the actual decisions faced by farmers, policymakers, and NGOs. Through the use of mathematical models, built from expert knowledge and probabilistic simulations, this approach — known as decision-focused research — supports better outcomes, even when data is incomplete or uncertain.

Prof. Luedeling will also introduce Value-of-Information analysis, a method that highlights which uncertainties matter most and where additional data collection could significantly improve decision quality.

This lecture is part of the INTERFACES Colloquium Series on “Sustainable Land Management in sub-Saharan Africa” and strongly aligns with ReForest’s mission to promote actionable, science-based decision-making tools for sustainable land-use transitions.

We look forward to seeing you there!
