ReForest will take part in the SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference

ReForest will be represented at the SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference, which will take place on 20-23 October 2025 in UK. The event will bring together international experts, practitioners, and researchers to advance the understanding and practice of decision quality across multiple fields.
At the conference, Prajna Kasargodu Anebagilu (University of Bonn) will present the work of ReForest on Decision Analysis tools for supporting agroforestry adoption in Europe in a poster, co-authored with Simon Swatek, Marcos Jiménez, Andrew Marcil, Cory Whitney, and Eike Luedeling.
She will demonstrate a holistic Decision Analysis framework that addresses the challenges of agroforestry adoption, such as system design, management, investment, and policy support. The approach integrates expert and practitioner knowledge through participatory model development and data estimation, and applies probabilistic simulations using Monte Carlo methods.
The ReForest team will showcase an interactive catalogue of decision-support tool designed for farmers, advisors, and policymakers. The tool applies Decision Analysis principles to specific agroforestry systems and stakeholder priorities, enabling transparent exploration of trade-offs and outcomes. The catalogue includes:
- Apple-based agroforestry
- Fruit tree–honey system with meadow orchards
- Walnut alley cropping with vegetables
- Silvopastoral systems
Key features include instant visual feedback on potential outcomes, the calculation of the Expected Value of Perfect Information (EVPI) to guide data collection before costly decisions, and a Funding Schemes module that maps regional support measures.
By integrating system knowledge, simulation, and policy frameworks, this work contributes to bridging the gap between science, practice, and policy, ultimately aiming to improve decision quality and promote agroforestry adoption across Europe.
