Seminar in Průhonice Strengthens Agroforestry Community in the Czech Republic

On 10 April 2026, a joint seminar organised by the REFOREST and DIGITAF projects in collaboration with the Czech Association for Agroforestry brought together practitioners, researchers, and policymakers in Průhonice to support the growing agroforestry community in the Czech Republic.

The event showcased key digital tools and platforms designed to empower farmers and facilitate knowledge exchange. Among the highlights was the presentation of the REFOREST Knowledge Hub, an online platform providing access to international resources, articles, tools, and documentaries, aimed at supporting the implementation of agroforestry practices.

Participants were also introduced to the newly launched Agroforestry Entity Map, a free, interactive resource enabling users to locate and connect with agroforestry stakeholders across the country.

The DIGITAF project presented its suite of digital tools, including applications for tree species selection—Agroforester Tree Advice and Deciduous—as well as carbon assessment tools such as CARAT and the Farm Carbon Calculator.

The afternoon session included a guided field walk focused on tree selection for agroforestry systems in Czech landscapes, offering practical insights into species suitability and local conditions.

The seminar demonstrated the importance of collaborative initiatives and digital innovation in advancing sustainable land use and supporting farmers in building resilient agroecosystems. to adopt sustainable practices and build resilient agricultural systems for the future, driven by shared knowledge and a strong community.
