L'agroforesterie présente d'immenses avantages pour les exploitations agricoles, l'environnement et la société dans son ensemble. Pourtant, son adoption à grande échelle se heurte à des difficultés considérables, notamment l'incertitude qui entoure les résultats escomptés en matière d'environnement et de rentabilité.

Tirer des enseignements des données collectées auprès de ReForest Living Labs dans toute l'Europe, la Outil FarmTree emerges as a digital solution to this challenge. This software-based model, accessible through an easy-to-use online interface, and connected to a scientific species database, empowers land users to craft agroforestry systems and anticipate their performance across production, financial, and agro-ecological dimensions. The tool allows to flexibly design unique agroforestry systems in an online environment (in terms of species composition, arrangement, and management), and offers a comprehensive overview of the farming system performance.

L'outil FarmTree intègre des données spécifiques au site, telles que

• l'information des agriculteurs,
• la conception et la gestion des parcelles,
• les conditions climatiques,
• la composition du sol,
• et les caractéristiques uniques des espèces.

En synthétisant ces données, l'outil génère des projections de modélisation pour les pays suivants scénario d'agroforesterie envisagé sur une période de temps définie.
