Living Lab Expert’s day in the Zöldág Farm (Olaszfalu)
As part of its mission to support the widespread adoption of agroforestry across Europe, the ReForest Living Lab in Hungary organized a series of Expert Days in October 2025. These in-person visits are a key part of the project’s co-creation approach, designed to connect local realities with cutting-edge research.

During these field visits, participants had the opportunity to explore the ongoing research, trials, and advisory activities carried out within the ReForest project. Hosted by the local Living Lab partners, the events showcased how agroforestry is being implemented and studied in diverse agricultural contexts.
Why Expert Days Matter
These practical learning experiences are a vital part of ReForest’s local knowledge strategy through creating local agroforestry communities. While scientific data and modeling are essential, ground-level insights from farmers, advisors, and practitioners are equally critical to designing agroforestry systems that are effective, scalable, and suited to real-world conditions.
By opening the Living Labs to expert audiences, ReForest fosters:
- Mutual learning between researchers and practitioners
- Stronger local networks for agroforestry innovation
- Increased visibility for successful practices and lessons learned
- Validation and refinement of project tools and methodologies in real contexts
Each ReForest Living Lab reflects unique environmental, social, and economic conditions. By hosting field visits and encouraging direct engagement, the project ensures that its solutions are rooted in place-based knowledge and respond to real challenges faced by landowners and rural communities.
