En adoptant des techniques de gestion durable des terres, telles que l'agroforesterie, les cultures de couverture, la culture sans labour et la gestion am\u00e9lior\u00e9e des p\u00e2turages, l'agriculture du carbone r\u00e9duit les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre provenant de l'agriculture et \u00e9limine le CO\u2082 de l'atmosph\u00e8re. Cette approche contribue \u00e0 l'att\u00e9nuation du changement climatique et promet une diversification des revenus agricoles gr\u00e2ce aux cr\u00e9dits carbone et aux paiements pour les services \u00e9cosyst\u00e9miques.\n  \n  Pour lib\u00e9rer le potentiel de l'agriculture du carbone dans l'UE, il faut innover, et l'agroforesterie constitue une solution particuli\u00e8rement viable et \u00e9volutive. Alors que l'UE acc\u00e9l\u00e8re ses efforts pour atteindre la neutralit\u00e9 climatique d'ici \u00e0 2050, l'agriculture carbone est apparue comme une strat\u00e9gie prometteuse pour am\u00e9liorer la s\u00e9questration du carbone dans les sols tout en soutenant l'agriculture durable. L'agroforesterie int\u00e8gre des arbres et des arbustes aux cultures ou au b\u00e9tail, ce qui permet de continuer \u00e0 produire des denr\u00e9es alimentaires tout en captant le CO\u2082 atmosph\u00e9rique et en le stockant dans la biomasse ligneuse et les sols. Ces syst\u00e8mes am\u00e9liorent la sant\u00e9 des sols, r\u00e9duisent l'\u00e9rosion, augmentent la biodiversit\u00e9 et renforcent la r\u00e9silience des exploitations agricoles face aux ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques extr\u00eames. Contrairement aux monocultures conventionnelles, l'agroforesterie diversifie les sources de revenus gr\u00e2ce au bois, aux fruits, aux noix et aux produits et services non ligneux, r\u00e9duisant ainsi les risques \u00e9conomiques pour les agriculteurs.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Par exemple, le Green Deal de l'UE ou le programme de gestion durable des terres de l'Angleterre reconnaissent l'agroforesterie comme un \u00e9l\u00e9ment cl\u00e9 de la production alimentaire durable. En outre, les march\u00e9s volontaires du carbone apparaissent comme une source potentielle de revenus pour les agriculteurs qui adoptent des pratiques agroforesti\u00e8res, leur permettant de mon\u00e9tiser le carbone s\u00e9questr\u00e9 dans leurs arbres et leurs sols. Cependant, malgr\u00e9 son potentiel, l'agroforesterie est confront\u00e9e \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis tels que les co\u00fbts d'investissement initiaux, les longues p\u00e9riodes d'amortissement et la complexit\u00e9 de la mesure et de la v\u00e9rification de la s\u00e9questration du carbone. Pour que l'agroforesterie soit adopt\u00e9e \u00e0 plus grande \u00e9chelle, nous devons renforcer les incitations financi\u00e8res, fournir des m\u00e9thodologies claires en mati\u00e8re de cr\u00e9dit carbone et offrir un soutien technique aux agriculteurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les recherches en cours dans le domaine de l'agroforesterie permettent d'affiner les meilleures pratiques, d'am\u00e9liorer les mesures de s\u00e9questration du carbone et d'\u00e9laborer des lignes directrices sp\u00e9cifiques \u00e0 chaque r\u00e9gion pour la mise en \u0153uvre. Des projets tels que ReForest et DigitAF se concentrent sur l'optimisation des combinaisons arbre-culture, la compr\u00e9hension de la dynamique de la sant\u00e9 des sols et l'\u00e9valuation des avantages \u00e9conomiques \u00e0 long terme pour les agriculteurs. Les chercheurs explorent \u00e9galement des techniques avanc\u00e9es de t\u00e9l\u00e9d\u00e9tection et de surveillance pilot\u00e9e par l'IA afin d'am\u00e9liorer la pr\u00e9cision de la comptabilisation du carbone. Les initiatives de collaboration entre les universit\u00e9s, les instituts de recherche et les d\u00e9cideurs politiques visent \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des strat\u00e9gies fond\u00e9es sur des donn\u00e9es probantes qui garantissent l'\u00e9volutivit\u00e9 et l'efficacit\u00e9 de l'agroforesterie.
