SUMMARY:ReForest at IFALL 2025: Living Labs Paving the Way to Resilient Agroecosystems
DESCRIPTION:The ReForest Project is pleased to announce its participation in the upcoming International Forum on Agroecosystem Living Labs (IFALL) 2025. \nThis high-level event aims to gather agroforestry stakeholders\, researchers\, and practitioners from across the globe to discuss land-use transitions and promote sustainable practices that support environmental and socio-economic resilience. \nThe event will feature discussion panels and parallel sessions of scientific papers to establish state-of-the-art practices\, share lessons learned from case studies and address challenges facing the international agroecosystem living lab community. The Forum will also feature networking events and field tours aiming to generate dialogue and create an inspiring space for collaboration and action. \nThe forum will be structured around various thematic areas including: \n\nfostering transitionstoward sustainable food systems through living labs\nempowering participation by strengthening participatory governance in living labs\nevaluating success through natural and social indicators\npromoting innovation\ninspiring innovative public policies\nenabling research that is participatory\, rigorous\, and well suited to supporting dynamic innovation processes in real-world settings.\n\nThese themes are tightly aligned with ReForest’s mission to co-create solutions that promote agroforestry and foster stakeholder engagement across Europe. We will be excited to share our insights and real-world experiences from our Living Labs\, to collaborate with international partners and continue working toward a resilient agroecological future.

SUMMARY:ReForest will take part in the SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference
DESCRIPTION:ReForest will be represented at the SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference\, which will take place on 20-23 October 2025 in UK. The event will bring together international experts\, practitioners\, and researchers to advance the understanding and practice of decision quality across multiple fields. \nAt the conference\, Prajna Kasargodu Anebagilu (University of Bonn) will present the work of ReForest on Decision Analysis tools for supporting agroforestry adoption in Europe in a poster\, co-authored with Simon Swatek\, Marcos Jiménez\, Andrew Marcil\, Cory Whitney\, and Eike Luedeling. \nShe will demonstrate a holistic Decision Analysis framework that addresses the challenges of agroforestry adoption\, such as system design\, management\, investment\, and policy support. The approach integrates expert and practitioner knowledge through participatory model development and data estimation\, and applies probabilistic simulations using Monte Carlo methods. \nThe ReForest team will showcase an interactive catalogue of decision-support tool designed for farmers\, advisors\, and policymakers. The tool applies Decision Analysis principles to specific agroforestry systems and stakeholder priorities\, enabling transparent exploration of trade-offs and outcomes. The catalogue includes: \n\nApple-based agroforestry\nFruit tree–honey system with meadow orchards\nWalnut alley cropping with vegetables\nSilvopastoral systems\n\nKey features include instant visual feedback on potential outcomes\, the calculation of the Expected Value of Perfect Information (EVPI) to guide data collection before costly decisions\, and a Funding Schemes module that maps regional support measures. \nBy integrating system knowledge\, simulation\, and policy frameworks\, this work contributes to bridging the gap between science\, practice\, and policy\, ultimately aiming to improve decision quality and promote agroforestry adoption across Europe. \nLink to the abstract: Posters – SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference
