SUMMARY:ReForest will take part in the SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference
DESCRIPTION:ReForest will be represented at the SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference\, which will take place on 20-23 October 2025 in UK. The event will bring together international experts\, practitioners\, and researchers to advance the understanding and practice of decision quality across multiple fields. \nAt the conference\, Prajna Kasargodu Anebagilu (University of Bonn) will present the work of ReForest on Decision Analysis tools for supporting agroforestry adoption in Europe in a poster\, co-authored with Simon Swatek\, Marcos Jiménez\, Andrew Marcil\, Cory Whitney\, and Eike Luedeling. \nShe will demonstrate a holistic Decision Analysis framework that addresses the challenges of agroforestry adoption\, such as system design\, management\, investment\, and policy support. The approach integrates expert and practitioner knowledge through participatory model development and data estimation\, and applies probabilistic simulations using Monte Carlo methods. \nThe ReForest team will showcase an interactive catalogue of decision-support tool designed for farmers\, advisors\, and policymakers. The tool applies Decision Analysis principles to specific agroforestry systems and stakeholder priorities\, enabling transparent exploration of trade-offs and outcomes. The catalogue includes: \n\nApple-based agroforestry\nFruit tree–honey system with meadow orchards\nWalnut alley cropping with vegetables\nSilvopastoral systems\n\nKey features include instant visual feedback on potential outcomes\, the calculation of the Expected Value of Perfect Information (EVPI) to guide data collection before costly decisions\, and a Funding Schemes module that maps regional support measures. \nBy integrating system knowledge\, simulation\, and policy frameworks\, this work contributes to bridging the gap between science\, practice\, and policy\, ultimately aiming to improve decision quality and promote agroforestry adoption across Europe. \nLink to the abstract: Posters – SDP Europe 2025 Decision Quality Conference

SUMMARY:Kigali Hosts the 6th World Congress on Agroforestry this October under the Theme “Agroforestry for People\, Planet and Profit”
DESCRIPTION:The 6th World Congress on Agroforestry is taking place in Kigali\, Rwanda from October 20 to 24\, 2025. This global event will bring together researchers\, practitioners\, policymakers\, and stakeholders from around the world to explore how agroforestry contributes to people\, the planet\, and economic prosperity. \nOrganised under the theme “Agroforestry for People\, Planet & Profit\,” the Congress will feature plenary sessions\, scientific presentations\, interactive parallel sessions\, exhibitions\, and field visits\, creating a vibrant space for dialogue and knowledge exchange across sectors. \nThe Congress strongly resonates with ReForest mission of promoting agroforestry as a sustainable land management solution that delivers climate resilience\, biodiversity enhancement\, and economic viability. That applies fully for the some key themes under which the conference programme will be organised and that are of particular interest to us: \n\nContribution of agroforestry in a changing climate\nAgroforestry for biodiversity and eco-systems services\nAgroforestry for improved livelihoods\nAgroforestry for sustainable food systems\nAgroforestry’s contributions to bioeconomy\nAgroforestry traditions\, knowledge and innovation\nAgroforestry’s financial and policy frameworks\nAgroforestry for silvopastoral systems\nMultistrata agroforestry systems with perennial crops
